Another trip to the zoo
Now that I have my 100-400 lens, going to the zoo is all the more a pleasure. I enjoy taking pictures of whatever animals happen to be photogenic that day and of course the kids don’t mind it either.
This shot I got of a male gorilla that did not seem to be in a good mood. The gorillas at the zoo almost always provide some interesting shots. I have to admit that this is one of my favorite shots from the recent trips to the zoo. The following shot is from a different profile.
Once in awhile, I can get an interesting shot of one of the gorillas outdoors. This one seemed to be in an entertaining mood.
The tamarin monkeys also provide good shots. There are two tamarin exhibits at the zoo. The first is in the rainforest house, where my lens always fogs up on me. I suspect this is an issue with the 100-400 itself, as a friend of mine who used a 135 f2 did not have this issue. The second tamarin exhibit is in the day and night exhibits and is not overly humid. I name this shot – “bad hair day”.
Finally, there is a house where the kids can feed lorakeets and other small birds. Eitan and Nathan love going there so it is almost always a stop. It also provides a great place to take pictures, though this time Eitan got scared so this was the only shot I could get off.
All in all another fun trip to the zoo.
